Luxurious interior with 45° French herringbone

Pattern Basics

What is a herringbone?

Herringbone is a decorative arrangement of wooden planks—in interior design, it's also known as chevron (for planks with shorter edges cut at an angle) or herringbone (also known as classic herringbone, which is parquet laid in a characteristic braid). The planks are cut at an angle to create a rhythmic V-shaped pattern. The angle of the cut and the way they are joined determine the character of the interior: from a quiet classic to the effect of a premium apartment.
